Day 01: Arrival at Phuentsholing : You can fly into Bagdogra airport, or travel by train to NJP, Alipur or Hashimara, or travel from Darjeeling, Gangtokand Kalimpongtothe Indo-Bhutanborderat Phuentsholing. Uponarrivalin Phuentsholing, weprocess route permit and then take a leisurely stroll through the market in the evening. Overnight in Phuentsholing.
Day 02: Phuentsholing – Thimphu (165 Km/5 hrs.) : Complete immigration formalities and drive to Thimphu, which takes about five to six hours. En-route visit Rinchending monastery, and stop in villages and scenic spots to enjoy and photograph the landscape which is replete with bounties of nature including waterfalls. In Thimphu visit the site of the world’s biggest Buddha statue, Memorial Stupa and stroll around the town. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 03: In Thimphu : The capital of Bhutan also has most things to see for visitors. A full day tour of Thimphu’s cultural sites and monuments may include Memorial Chorten, traditional Art school or Painting school, Indigenous Hospital, Nunnery at Zilukha, a short drive up to a view point for aerial view of the capital and its suburbs. Along the way, visit Takin Sanctuary, the national animal of Bhutan. Also visit giant Buddha statue. There are others like Zangdopelri temple, Changangkha monastery, Simtokha Dzong, Crafts workshop, Textile museum which can be visited as per available time or based on your interests. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 04: Thimphu – Punakha/Wangdue (85 Km/2-3 hrs.) : The drive from Thimphu to Punakha across spectacular Dochula takes about 3hrs. From Thimphu, road climbs up to Dochula pass (3,050m), where you have opportunity to view the peaks of the eastern Himalayas. Descend into Wangdue/Punakha valley. Punakha-Wangdue valley is lower (about 1450m above sea level) and it enjoys
sub-tropical climate. In the afternoon, visit impressive Punakha Dzong at the confluence of the two rivers. Later drive short distance north through the idyllic countryside and walk short distance uphill to Khamsum Chorten on Nyenzangang hill. The views from here of the terraced rice fields, dotted with traditional houses, the river and the valley surrounded by mountains is amazing! On the way to the hotel, stop to visit the township of Punakha at Khuruthang. Overnight in Punakha.
Day 05: Punakha to Paro (130 Km/3-4 hrs.) : In the morning, visit the impressive Punakha Dzong at the confluence of Pho and Mochu rivers. If you wish, you can also take a short (40 minute each way) walk to visit Khamsum Yuelley Chorten. On the return drive to Thimphu, we spend some time below Dochula pass to explore the botanical park and nearby surrounding for birds for diverse flora. Lunch could be planned at Dochula pass. After descending into Thimphu, continue short drive to Paro. The popular attractions within Paro include visiting Rinphung Dzong, National Museum, temples of Kichu and Dungtse, visiting local home and the stroll around the township. Overnight in Paro.
Day 06: Paro Valley (Taktsang Hike) : Drive for about hour to Paro and hike to famous Taktsang (tiger’s nest) monastery (3120m/10,200ft). Visible from afar, this magical monastery clings to a vertical granite cliff 1,000 feet above the valley floor. It is one of the most amazing and important pieces of architecture in Bhutan. If for some reason, you are not able to hike, your Guide can arrange other interesting alternatives. You can also hire pony for the uphill part, till the first view point & cafeteria but you must be able to walk back downhill. While some will probably not make it all the way to the monastery, however it is worth even to try getting till the first view point. Return to Paro, where we may have more time for stroll around the town. Overnight in Paro
Day 7: Paro – Phuentsholing (160 Km/5 hrs.) : After breakfast, drive back to Phuentsholing (5-6 hours). Upon arrival, check-in and evening at leisure. Overnight in Phuentsholing.
Day 8: Phuentsholing - Departure : Departure transfer to Bagdogra Airport/ NJP railway station for your onwards journey.

The scenery is stunning and ever-changing, as the road climbs and descends. Along the way, you can stop at several places. Upon arrival, visit ancient Gangtey Gompa Monastery and take a short walk to visit local homes. Overnight in Gangtey.
Day 04: Gangtey to Punakha (75 Km/2-3 hrs.) : October till March. Later drive back and descend into sub-tropical valley of Punakha – Wangdue (2-3 hrs). Visit the township of Wangdue and its massive fortress. In the evening, take a short easy walk to see Chimi Lhakhang temple, which is through a small village. Overnight in Punakha.

On the return drive to Thimphu, we spend some time below Dochula pass to explore the botanical park and nearby surrounding for birds for diverse flora. After descending into Thimphu, continue short drive to Paro. Thimphu (2N) - Paro (2N)
Day 1: Arrival in Paro and drive to Thimphu (50 Km/1 hr.): Upon arrival, meet Wind Horse representative and transfer to the capital, Thimphu. After lunch, among others, visit the site of the world’s biggest Buddha statue and get acquainted with Thimphu city. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 2: Thimphu sightseeing : Visit Memorial Stupa, Takin Sanctuary, Zilukha Nunnery, Traditional Art School, Indigenous Hospital, Textile Museum, handicraft workshops, Zangdopelri Temple, markets and other sights, if time permits, visit to Tashicho Dzong in the evening. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 3: Thimphu – Paro (50 Km/1 hr.) : Transfer to Paro. In Paro, visit Ta Dzong (National Museum), Rinpung Dzong, the ruins of Drugyal Dzong and the ancient Kichu Lhakhang temple. Overnight in Paro.
Day 4: Paro Sightseeing : Transfer to the trail-head north of Paro valley and hike to the famous Tiger Nest Monastery. Upon return, stroll through the town area and visit local villages. Optional: Excursion to Chele la pass if you wish to skip the Takstang hike. Overnight in Paro.
Day 5: Paro - Departure :Transfer to Paro airport according to your flight schedule.

The system facilitates the Online processing of permits for regional tourists through registered Bhutanese tour operators like Wind Horse Tours. The facility is offered as an optional channel to process permits for visitors from the region and is applicable for entry from Paro and Phuentsholing. Visitors who use this facility will be able to obtain their permit clearances and route permits ahead of their arrival in Bhutan similar to international tourists. You are required to send the photo-page of your passport to your tour operator who will then apply for your e-permit.

All other tourists must obtain a visa clearance prior the travel to Bhutan. Visas are processed through an Online system by licensed Bhutanese tour operator like GOVMENT OF BHUTAN directly or through a foreign travel agent. Day 06: Paro Valley (Taktsang Hike) : Drive for about hour to Paro and hike to famous Taktsang (tiger’s nest) monastery (3120m/10,200ft). Visible from afar, this magical monastery clings to a vertical granite cliff 1,000 feet above the valley floor. It is one of the most amazing and important pieces of architecture in Bhutan. If for some reason, you are not able to hike, your Guide can arrange other interesting alternatives. You can also hire pony for the uphill part, till the first view point & cafeteria but you must be able to walk back downhill. While some will probably not make it all the way to the monastery, however it is worth even to try getting till the first view point. Return to Paro, where we may have more time for stroll around the town. Overnight in Paro
Day 7: Paro – Phuentsholing (160 Km/5 hrs.) : After breakfast, drive back to Phuentsholing (5-6 hours). Upon arrival, check-in and evening at leisure. Overnight in Phuentsholing.
Day 8: Phuentsholing - Departure : Departure transfer to Bagdogra Airport/ NJP railway station for your onwards journey.

In order to streamline and facilitate smooth visitation by tourists from Bangladesh, India and Maldives, the Department of Immigration, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs and the Tourism Council of Bhutan have launched the Online Permit System. The system facilitates the Online processing of permits for regional tourists through registered Bhutanese tour operators like Wind Horse Tours. The facility is offered as an optional channel to process permits for visitors from the region and is applicable for entry from Paro and Phuentsholing. Visitors who use this facility will be able to obtain their permit clearances and route permits ahead of their arrival in Bhutan similar to international tourists. You are required to send the photo-page of your passport to your tour operator who will then apply for your e-permit.
Visa (Foreign Nationals)
All other tourists must obtain a visa clearance prior the travel to Bhutan. Visas are processed through an Online system by licensed Bhutanese tour operator like GOVMENT OF BHUTAN directly or through a foreign travel agent. You are required to send the photo-page of your passport to your tour operator who will then apply for your visa. The visa will be processed by the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB) once the full payment of your holiday (including a USD $40 visa fee) has been wire transferred and received in the TCB bank account. Once received, the visa clearance will be processed within 72 working hours.At your point of entry you will be required to show your visa clearance letter, the visa will then be stamped into your passport.
DAY TO DAY ITINERARY :
Day 01: Arrive in Paro – Thimphu (50 Km/1 hr.) : Upon arrival in Paro, you are met by Wind Horse Guide & driver and transferred to Thimphu, which takes around 1hr from the airport. This afternoon visit attraction of Thimphu according to your interests and available time. This may include Tashicho Dzong, which is the main Govt. center with kings’ throne room. Visit Farmer’s market, which is more vibrant during the weekends. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 02: In Thimphu : The capital of Bhutan also has most things to see for visitors. A full day tour of Thimphu’s cultural sites and monuments may include Memorial Chorten, traditional Art school or Painting school, Indigenous Hospital, Nunnery at Zilukha, a short drive up to a view point for aerial view of the capital and its suburbs. Along the way, visit Takin Sanctuary, the national animal of Bhutan. Also visit giant Buddha statue. There are others like Zangdopelri temple, Changangkha monastery, Simtokha Dzong, Crafts workshop, Textile museum which can be visited as per available time or based on your interests. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 03: Thimphu – Gangtey, Phobjikha Valley (130 Km/4 hrs.) : Drive across the spectacular Dochula La Pass to Gangtey, Phobjikha Valley (5 hr.). The scenery is stunning and ever-changing, as the road climbs and descends. Along the way, you can stop at several places. Upon arrival, visit ancient Gangtey Gompa Monastery and take a short walk to visit local homes. Overnight in Gangtey.
Day 04: Gangtey to Punakha (75 Km/2-3 hrs.) : October till March. Later drive back and descend into sub-tropical valley of Punakha – Wangdue (2-3 hrs). Visit the township of Wangdue and its massive fortress. In the evening, take a short easy walk to see Chimi Lhakhang temple, which is through a small village. Overnight in Punakha.
Day 05: Punakha to Paro (130 Km/3-4 hrs.) : In the morning, visit the impressive Punakha Dzong at the confluence of Pho and Mochu rivers. If you wish, you can also take a short (40 minute each way) walk to visit Khamsum Yuelley Chorten. On the return drive to Thimphu, we spend some time below Dochula pass to explore the botanical park and nearby surrounding for birds for diverse flora. Lunch could be planned at Dochula pass. After descending into Thimphu, continue short drive to Paro. The popular attractions within Paro include visiting Rinphung Dzong, National Museum, temples of Kichu and Dungtse, visiting local home and the stroll around the township. Overnight in Paro.

Day 3: Thimphu – Punakha/Wangdue (85 Km/2-3 hrs.) : The drive from Thimphu to Punakha across spectacular Dochula takes about 3hrs. From Thimphu, road climbs up to Dochula pass (3,050m), where you have opportunity to view the peaks of the eastern Himalayas. Descend into Wangdue/Punakha valley. Punakha-Wangdue valley is lower (about 1450m above sea level) and it enjoys sub-tropical climate. In the afternoon, visit impressive Punakha Dzong at the confluence of the two rivers. Later drive short distance north through the idyllic countryside and walk short distance uphill to Khamsum Chorten on Nyenzangang hill. The views from here of the terraced rice fields, dotted with traditional houses, the river and the valley surrounded by mountains is amazing! On the way to the hotel, stop to visit the township of Punakha at Khuruthang. Overnight in Punakha.

Day 1: Arrival in Paro and drive to Thimphu (50 Km/1 hr.): Upon arrival, meet Wind Horse representative and transfer to the capital, Thimphu. After lunch, among others, visit the site of the world’s biggest Buddha statue and get acquainted with Thimphu city. Overnight in Thimphu.
